Now that we are past the rookie mini camps and the OTA’s its time to look at some young guys that could have a break out fantasy season if things play out in their favor before the season starts. The RB position is where I will start I have a few in mind that seem to have a great chance to turn in a stellar fantasy year so long as they stay healthy and the cards fall right for them. Up first for me is the 49ers newest free agency pick up in Jerick McKinnon, now don’t get me wrong I don’t think he ends up with some insane amount of rushing yards, but in that offense with Jimmy G throwing him the ball he should do well in fantasy as the 49ers lead back.
Next up for me is my first rookie that will get somewhat lost in the shuffle because of the addition of Frank Gore and that’s Kalen Ballage, he sits behind a very aging RB who is on the down side of his career and Ballage has outstanding talents with the ability to take over this backfield before the season even starts with a good preseason showing. My next RB sleeper may not be as much of a sleeper considering he is most likely looked at as the #1 right now, but with so much hype around rookie pick Royce Freeman the RB the Broncos kept instead of CJ in Devontae Booker looks to have his chance to take the starting spot and run with it if he can stay healthy.
So next on the list is gonna be some of my WR sleepers and these will be a little more of long shots than any of the RB will be, but the upside if the cards fall right for a couple of these guys is huge. First up is a WR I have been keeping my eye on now that Tannehill is back and looking healthy and that is Albert Wilson and with a very under performing DeVante Parker now the #1 and Kenny Stills the #2 Wilson should slide in as a clear #2 – #3 option for Tannehill. Next up will be the first rookie of many I have had my eye on playing in a Dynasty format, Deon Cain sits as a #4 already after OTA’s and past TY Hilton the rest of the WR’s in IND are nothing special which leaves Cain all of preseason to leap ahead of the rest of these guys with his outstanding ball skills and exceptional route running.
Now on to a guy who has had a start to a breakout before an injury buried him on the Saints roster and that is Willie Snead, the Ravens also added Crabtree to give Flacco a real deep threat and Alex Collins has all but secured that backfield so Snead stands to be in the slot where he can do the most damage. So here is just a homer thought on a sleeper and this one may be the big long shot considering the depth on the Chargers roster and that is Mike Williams. I had huge hopes for this guy out of college only to be disappointed by injuries that have buried him on a deep depth chart of WR’s. Past Keenan Allen I think Williams is the next best WR they have, but he needs to get on the field and stay healthy for that to come true. My big one for this year will be looked at by many, but skipped because of where he is playing and rightfully so.
